Some shit I eat as a vegan and my vegan story.

Buttery (Vitalite) sautéed button mushrooms with garlic salt, salad consisting of romaine lettuce, cucumber, wee vine tomatoes, half an avocado, tossed with a lil bit of Veganaise, garlic salt and mixed herbs, with seeded buttery as fuck toast.

As I'm a massive foodie, but also on a student budget, trying to eat moderately nutritious and entirely filling meals on a vegan diet, it can sometimes get a bit challenging. Not so much with finding and cooking adequate food, but more so with the inspiration to get creative in the kitchen, while having a few solid quick and easy staples to fall back on. I know that a lot of people have similar struggles in the kitchen, while others who are toying with the idea of going vegan are a bit short on ideas of what they could realistically eat day to day, since a lot of vegan food Instagram accounts and blogs are filled with beautiful, albeit overly ambitious, time consuming and expensive dishes. It can be quite a headache.

Maui Moisture Thicken & Restore; Range Review.

Maui Moisture is a recently launched haircare brand based in the US, created by Vogue International, the guys who brought us OGX. To my knowledge, this tropical inspired collection debuted in January 2017, and more recently made its way over the pond to the UK, where it is now being sold in Boots and Superdrug. It is also worth noting that Superdrug carries a limited selection of the range, while Boots has most of the collection available, and both stores offer all full-sized products for £8.99. The whole range of products includes several shampoos and conditioners, hair masks and mists, however today I'm focusing specifically on the Thicken & Restore Bamboo Fibre Shampoo and Conditioner, as they are the products I have tried. This range also includes a blow out mist available in the UK, which I am keen on trying out once I run out of my current hair mist. Finally, before I actually get into the review, I wanted to insert a quick disclaimer that Vogue International is owned by Johnson & Johnson, so those of you who avoid nasty parent companies avert your eyes.

Superfly Soap Vegan Lip Balm; Product Review.

Superfly Soap is a relatively new, UK based independent cosmetics brand that popped up on my radar earlier this year. In my quest to be a more ethical and conscious consumer I took to Etsy, and stumbled upon their selection of soaps that look good enough to eat. I am yet to try their Avocado and Banana and Mocha soaps, which immediately caught my attention, thanks to their vibrant colours and stunning product photography, but that's not what this post is about. I will, however, quickly touch on the company ethos which focuses on natural ingredients and minimal packaging. What I particularly like in regards to the packaging is that you can choose whether to have the soap bars delivered in biodegradable cellophane wrapping, or plain naked. The postage packaging is also minimal and plastic free, which you can read more about on their website. Now, without further ado, let's talk about the lip balm.

Trying to be less shitty & an afterthought on zero waste.

From a young age I've been the model empath, always caring about others' wellbeing and hating injustice and misfortunes. I've also had excellent role models, as my family always preached kindness, and some of my earliest memories of my father involved him feeding all the local stray cats. So it wasn't really a shocker when at the ripe age of 13 I delved into vegetarianism, and albeit the road was long and bumpy and I fell off track a handful of times, eventually I committed to the compassion extremity of veganism. So, there I was, choosing this heroic lifestyle, proud of myself for doing the ultimate good and saving the world, until recently...
